Redditch United are only three points off the Blue Square North relegation zone after their 1-0 defeat at Blyth.
The only goal of a physical encounter came from a Robert Dale penalty in injury time in the first half.
Blyth played for nearly an hour of Tuesday's match with only 10 men, after Gary Brown was sent off for a high tackle on Lucan Spittle.
Garry Hay and Owen Storey went close for the Reds but Blyth comfortably held out to go above them in the table.
