Injured Latham heads to Australia

Chris Latham
Latham made 20 first-team appearances this season

Worcester Warriors full-back Chris Latham has returned home to Australia to recover from a season-ending injury.

The 33-year-old dislocated his shoulder and fractured his scapula in the 14-10 win over Gloucester on 22 March.

The former Australia international had planned to stay at Worcester until the end of the season, but the club have allowed him to return home early.

"With the extent of the injury I felt I needed the full support of my family around me," he said.

"I have really enjoyed my first full season at Warriors and I very much look forward to getting stuck into next season."

The former Queensland Reds star will continue his rehabilitation under the medical staff and conditioning team at the Super 14 side.

Worcester director of rugby Mike Ruddock said: "We've an open line of communication with Queensland Reds medical team.

"Obviously we'll be in constant contact with the support staff who are facilitating Chris returning from injury in his native land."
