Paul Ellender was a member of Boston's title-winning side in 2001-02
Boston United have re-signed Paul Ellender on loan from Alfreton Town.
Defender Ellender, 34, joined Boston in 2001, making 275 appearances in seven seasons at York Street before moving to Alfreton after his release in May 2008.
Manager Steve Welsh told the club website: "Signing Paul is a fantastic piece of business.
"He brings all the qualities that you need in the middle of a relegation battle - he has experience, character, spirit and determination in abundance."
Welsh added: "I'm delighted to have the big man on board and I know he is overjoyed to be back too."
But the Pilgrims, who are in the Unibond Premier Division's bottom four and have failed to score in 10 of their last 12 league games, have been rocked by the news that top scorer Olly Ryan will remain sidelined for several weeks with a recurrence of an ankle injury.
Welsh told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "He's been to see a specialist and there are no breaks or fractures.
"But I think we can discount Olly for the short to medium term."
