Weston have taken seven points from their last four games under Gurney
Andrew Gurney has been named Weston-super-Mare manager after impressing in the role during a trial period.
The 35-year-old replaced Tony Ricketts on 1 December and has helped steer the club eight points clear of the relegation zone in Blue Square South.
"It was my aim to keep the job and I think everyone has been pleased with what they have seen so far," he said.
"When I got given the opportunity I wasn't looking at the short term, I wanted to build something."
Ricketts was sacked after a run of one win in nine games and midfielder Gurney was promoted from his role as player-assistant manager.
The former Reading, Swansea, Bristol Rovers and Swindon player had enjoyed two previous stints at the Woodspring Stadium.
In recent weeks, as well as seeing results on the pitch pick up, he has boosted the squad with a number of impressive signings.
"The response I have had from the players and everyone has been fantastic," he said.
"It has been made public that our aim for this season and next has to be to stay in this division, and then the club hope to be in a position to push for the Blue Square Premier.
"Hopefully I will be the person charged to do that."
