Caretaker boss Andrew Gurney has been given a trial until 31 January
Weston-super-Mare have handed caretaker boss Andy Gurney an extended trial, giving him until 31 January to prove he should be awarded the job full time.
Gurney took over when Tony Ricketts was sacked earlier this month, and he has been told that the club will not be advertising for a new manager.
"Im in the seat at the moment and it is my job to try and keep it," he said.
"Hopefully if we can string a few results together between now and the end of January it will be my job."
I can promise the fans that we will be very committed and very hard working

Gurney is in his third spell at the Woodspring Stadium after two stints as a Weston player in 2006/7 and 2007/8.
Ricketts took charge of the Blue Square South side in the summer of 2007 but was sacked after a run of one win in nine games.
"I am really excited about it and grateful for the opportunity and, hopefully, I can repay the faith that people have shown in me," added Gurney.
"I can promise the fans that we will be very committed and very hard working and strive to give them something to cheer about.
"If they can come down in their numbers and get behind us it would be brilliant."
Gurney's previous clubs include Reading, Swindon, Bristol Rovers and Swansea City.
