Welsh tells players to 'grow up'

Angry Boston United manager Steve Welsh has ordered his players to "grow up".

Saturday's 1-0 defeat at relegation rivals Whitby Town was the Pilgrims' fourth UniBond Premier League reverse in a row.

Welsh told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "Some of the more experienced players need to grow up a wee bit and need to take more responsibility.

"Too many of us are feeling sorry for ourselves and we've got to snap out of it," he added.

"At the minute we're letting one game pass us by, the next game pass us by and we're now entering the business end of the season.

"If we're not careful we're going to find ourselves in a position where we really don't want to be.

"They've got to take responsibility for their performances both individually and collectively.

"Things aren't going well and we haven't got a leader on the pitch and someone's got to come out of their shell."

Boston have not scored for five league matches and go to second-placed Eastwood Town on Tuesday night without injured top-scorer Ollie Ryan.
