Richard Dryden felt this was a much-needed victory for City
Worcester City manager Richard Dryden was relieved after his side returned to winning ways with a 2-0 Blue Square South victory at St Albans City.
Dryden told BBC Hereford and Worcester his tactics had not made it a pretty game, but it was all about the result.
"We went to make it scrappy and to get their two big centre-halves turned with our pace," he said.
"It wasn't the most creative ball that got us our first goal, but it was a good clearance by Gary Walker.
"He was probably our man-of-the-match again and, as for Matt Dinsmore, it was a great finish from another young lad."
After a totally forgettable first half, Worcester stepped things up after the interval and secured the points with two goals in seven minutes.
Walker's long clearance caught out the home team's defence and Dinsmore did well to stay onside before calmly beating the home team's experienced goalkeeper Paul Bastock to give Dryden's side the lead.
Bastock had no chance with the visitors' second goal when Craig Wilding's deflected shot dipped under the bar to steady any Worcester nerves.
Dryden acknowledged that Wilding's goal had been vital to his team's success.
"It was a great strike and it took a little bit of pressure of us for the last 10-15 minutes, although we fell asleep when Ollie Barnes went down in the six-yard box," he said.
"We all rushed out and we could have got punished for that - we probably deserved to get punished as we were a bit sloppy.
Things at the club would be a lot lower if we hadn't have got a positive result

"But we rode our luck on that one and I think we deserved the points."
Worcester's early FA Trophy exit means they will be without a fixture on Saturday, 13 December and Dryden said that made the win at St Albans all the more important.
"We're out of the cups and all we have got left is the league and that's the disappointing thing," he said.
"But things at the club would be a lot lower if we hadn't have got a positive result. The changing room is buzzing - they're laughing and they are back on it.
"It might have been great to have had another game on Monday or next Saturday but we haven't, so it will be five training sessions before the next game."
Worcester City will next be in action on 20 December when they are due to host Bognor Regis Town in a Blue Square South match at St George's Lane.
