Brian France is in his second season in charge at Scarborough Athletic

Scarborough Athletic achieved the rare distinction of scoring six goals in three consecutive Koolsport NCEL games as they won 6-1 at AFC Emley.

Graham Botham, Daniel Gray, Ryan Blott (two) and two penalties from Scott Phillips kept Athletic third in Division One with games in hand.

Scarborough manager Brian France told BBC Radio York: "We took all our chances and at vital times.

"There were two good sides but our finishing was lethal."

Emley enjoyed as much possession as Scarborough and when Lee Hill pulled the score back to 2-1 on the half hour it was the least they deserved.

A stormy period followed and referee John Cunningham dished out several lectures, including one to Emley manager Ian Banks, but Gray's goal right on half time tilted the balance firmly in Athletic's favour.

The Seadogs went out of two cup competitions recently but France remains confident of their league chances.

"The league is the main thing, anything else is a bonus," he added.

"We've conceded the least goals in the league and scored the most goals, so if we continue like that we won't be far away."

One of those bonuses is next Saturday's FA Vase third round tie at home to Blackstones.

Left-winger Dave Thompson is doubtful after picking up an injury early in the Emley game but France is hopeful that he will have an otherwise fully-fit squad to pick from.
