We got what we deserved - Dryden

Worcester City slumped to their second away defeat of the Blue Square South season when they lost 2-0 at Thurrock.

The City manager Richard Dryden told BBC Hereford and Worcester he had no complaints about the result as his side had been well off the pace.

"We beat ourselves today although for five minutes at the start it looked as though we were well in there," he said.

"Then we just didn't look interested for around 35 minutes so we got exactly what we deserved."

Thurrock wrapped up the points with a goal in each half - Che Stadhart put the Essex club ahead after 15 minutes, while Leon McKenzie then doubled their lead six minutes after the interval.

Dryden said he was especially frustrated by the manner in which his side conceded the second goal.

"We try and clear the ball and it comes straight back," he said.

"It was schoolboy defending - we work on it and you look at it and think 'have we really worked on it?' because it looks shocking."

This defeat leaves Worcester City in 10th place in the Blue Square South table - 12 points behind the leaders Chelmsford City.
