Dover inspired by Fleet success

Andy Hessenthaler
Hessenthaler is aiming for promotion again this season

Dover manager Andy Hessenthaler says watching Ebbsfleet United win the FA Trophy has inspired him to do well in the competition this season.

The Whites, who currently top the Ryman Premier League, host Conference South side Cambridge City this weekend.

Hessenthaler told BBC Radio Kent: "It was fantastic to see Ebbsfleet at Wembley and you think 'maybe one day'.

"It'll be tough but with the run we're on, teams won't want to come and play us especially at the Crabble."

He added: "The draw's been kind to us in that we've got a home tie but Cambridge City are a very good side - they've got a bit of experience and they've also got some young players in there.

"They're very much like ourselves so it should make an entertaining game.

"We were tested by AFC Wimbledon in the FA Cup and we pushed them all the way."

The Whites took the Conference South side to a replay in the final qualifying round of the competition before eventually losing.

Dover v Cambridge City will be a featured game on BBC Radio Kent on Saturday, 1 November.
