Margate have secured their future for at least another two months.

The financially-troubled Ryman Premier Division club have had the case to hear a winding-up petition against them adjourned until 26 November.

The case was brought against Margate by HM Revenue and Customs.

The club issued a statement on their website stating: "We are delighted to announce that the application for an adjournment has been successful in court today (Tuesday)."

It added: "The club would like to thank supporters from this club and others who have been sending in their well wishes.

"The club can also announce that a planning application has been submitted by our architects to Thanet District Council for the proposed Medical Centre at Hartsdown Park."

Relieved Margate fan of more than 50 years, Tony Cook, told BBC Radio Kent: "I sat there, it took about 10 seconds to get the decision.

"I thought whatever happened they would allow us to continue out fixtures but some people thought that was it.

"We need investment from someone with a few hundred quid to spare but I am sure we will get there in the end."

The club, managed by former Gillingham and Watford player Barry Ashby, are currently 18th in the Ryman Premier Division.
