Dryden feels red card was harsh

Worcester City's manager Richard Dryden says the sending-off of Craig Wilding in the 1-1 draw at Weston-super-Mare was harsh.

Dryden told BBC Hereford and Worcester he did not feel there was much in the incident.

"The way the lad went down I thought he was going to be in hospital for three or four days," said Dryden.

"But he's got up and finished the game, with no problem, and that says it all, so I'm disappointed by it."

City fell behind after only 14 minutes of the Blue Square South encounter when Andrew Gurney put the home side ahead, but they were back on level terms before half-time.

The last thing we want is to be playing with 10 men for about 45 minutes when you've got another game in less than two days

Marco Adaggio again proved that spectacular goals are his trademark as he hammered City level from 20 yards eight minutes before the interval.

Wilding's red card early in the second period changed City's approach to the game, and they were ultimately reasonably happy to come away with a point.

Richard Dryden was again without the injured duo of Matt Dodd and David Bampton, but he is hoping that it will not be too long before they are available again.

"They're steadily getting there and hopefully we might have one back for Monday's home game with Bath City," he said.

"The last thing we want is to be playing with 10 men for about 45 minutes when you've got another game in less than two days.

"But we're fit, eager and young, and they'll roll their sleeves up and have a go for us on Monday," he added.

There will be regular reports on Worcester City's home game against Bath City in a sports special on BBC Hereford and Worcester from 1400 BST on Monday 25 August.
