AFC Telford United have snapped up Stuart Whitehead after the defender was released by Kidderminster. "If I could've signed anyone at the start of the season, it would have been Stuart," Telford boss Rob Smith told BBC Radio Shropshire.
The 31-year-old, who played for the old Telford club and also Shrewsbury Town, has signed an 18-month deal.
Macclesfield striker Michael Husbands, 24, has signed until the end of the season, after a successful loan spell.
"Signing Stuart Whitehead is one of the most emotional moments that I've experienced since becoming the Telford chairman," said Lee Carter.
"To say we are delighted is an absolute understatement. The board and management are just thrilled to have secured someone of his stature."
Whitehead, who was always a popular figure during his previous time at Telford, captained Kidderminster at Wembley in the FA Trophy final last May.
Husbands has scored three goals to date for Telford, but his appearances have been limited by niggling injuries.
"We really need a fit Michael Husbands, and now we've got the time to work on him," said Smith.
