Ghana captain Stephen Appiah is happy over his return to action for the Black Stars for the first time since April.
Appiah, 28, missed June's World Cup qualifiers but was in good form in Wednesday's 4-1 friendly win over Zambia.
"It's good to be back playing for the Black Stars after missing the last 2 games," Appiah said on his official website.
"I was keen to be part of this game and thankfully the coach invited me.
"I knew I had to fight for my place like any other player and so to get 20 or so minutes playing time under my belt was really good for me."
Appiah has been without a club since falling out with Turkish club Fenerbahce but he is keen on helping Ghana to seal their 2010 World Cup place.
"I am ready for the upcoming games and will be fighting for a starting place like any other player," Appiah said.
"Hopefully we can seal a World Cup place in the next few games."
The Black Stars can clinch their World Cup place on 6 September if they beat Sudan and Mali hold Benin in Cotonou.
