Moumouni Dagano failed to find the net for Burkina Faso

Burkina Faso's hopes of advancing to the next phase of the 2010 World Cup qualifiers was put on hold after a goalless with Tunisia in Ouagadougou on Saturday.

The Stallions needed maximum points in the top-of-the-table clash in Group Nine but their strikers Moumouni Dagano and Jonathan Pitroipa failed to convert good chances.

Burkina Faso were seeking a double over Tunisia having scored twice in the closing stages to snatch a shock 2-1 away victory in June.

A draw in Burundi next month will assure the Stallions of first place in the group as they have 13 points after five rounds of matches.

Regular World Cup qualifiers Tunisia, who are three points adrift, complete their six-match schedule at home to whipping boys Seychelles.

Burundi's faint hopes of qualifying for the final phase of the qualifiers evaporated despite grinding out a 2-1 win over Seychelles on Saturday.

Henry Mbazumutima put the visitors in the lead on 27 minutes after taking advantage of a defensive slip up.

The Swallows extended their lead through Claude Nahimana in the 58th minute but Philip Zialor's strike just after the hour mark ensured a nervy finish.

The victory took Burundi to six points after five rounds of matches.

They remain third on the table, four points behind second-placed Tunisia with one match remaining in the group.

Seychelles, meanwhile, remain pointless.
