Issam Jomaa opened the scoring for Tunisia in Victoria
Burkina Faso went to the top of Group 9 of the 2010 World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Saturday after a 2-0 home win over Burundi.
The win in Ouagadougou puts the Stallions among the early pace setters in the African qualifiers as they have the maximum six points.
Meanwhile, Tunisia revived their chances of reaching the second phase of the qualifiers after beating Seychelles 2-0 in the group's other game on Saturday.
The Carthage Eagles suffered a shock 2-1 home defeat to Burkina Faso in their opening qualifier last week in Tunis.
But their opening exchanges at the Unity Stadium in Victoria suggested they were keen to make amends with striker Issam Jomaa opening the scoring on 10 minutes.
The visitors doubled their lead two minutes before the break when Chaouki Ben Saada took advantage of a defensive slip up to seal a well-earned victory.
The win puts the Carthage Eagles back in contention for a place in the second phase of qualifiers as they are now level on three points with leaders Burkina Faso and Burundi.
Tunisia continue their 2010 campaign with a trip to play Burundi while the Seychelles host Burkina Faso, both matches are next weekend.
