Roger Lemerre's contract with Tunisia will not be extended |
Roger Lemerre's contract as coach of Tunisia will not be renewed after the team's exit in the last eight of the Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana. The country's football federation (FTF) said the 66-year-old's current deal will be allowed to expire in June.
Tunisia lost 3-2 to Cameroon after extra-time in the quarter-finals of the recent Nations Cup in Ghana.
A spokesman for the FTF said Lemerre could leave his Carthage Eagles' post as soon as a replacement is found.
Lemerre led France to the Euro 2000 title and had been in charge of the Tunisian team since 2002, winning the Africa Cup of Nations in 2004.
Tunisia start the first round of combined 2010 World Cup and African Nations Cup qualifiers in June, facing Burkina Faso, Burundi and the Seychelles in group 9.
