Everton striker Victor Anichebe and Chelsea midfielder Mikel Jon Obi have both been confirmed injured for Nigeria's friendly against Australia. Captain Nwankwo Kanu, John Utaka and Joseph Yobo have also withdrawn from the squad with injury.
Super Eagles' coach Berti Vogts is still feeling upbeat ahead of tomorrow's game in Fulham, London.
"We have many other good players to fill in; Makinwa, Ishiaku and don't forget Obafemi Martins, he's not bad.
"I spoke to all of the injured players and it is just not worth injecting them with painkillers for a friendly game.
"What is important is that all the best players are fully fit for January, and I fully believe they will be," Vogts told BBC Sport.

Striker Obafemi Martins, who plays for Premier League side Newcastle United was more despondent about the withdrawals.
"Kanu is our captain and a very good player, I wish all the players could be here especially as we had a similar situation when we played against Mexico," Martins said.
"The match against Australia is very important because we all want to win the Cup of Nations next year and this is part of our build up to this," he added.
Nigeria can console themselves with the thought that Australia also have injury problems, Everton midfielder Tim Cahill has been sidelined for the clash.
