FC Porto's Benni McCarthy
McCarthy has scored three goals in two weeks
Most Most of the top African players in Europe are now preparing for the Cup of Nations with their national teams but there were still some notable performances at the weekend from those staying in Europe.

Portugal

South African Benni McCarthy has continued to make waves for FC Porto following his decision not to attend the Cup of Nations.

He followed up his two goals last week when he scored the third goal for his side as they dismissed Sporting Braga 3-0.

France

Gabon�s Shiva Nzigou scored goal number three for Nantes as his side triumphed 3-0 over Ajaccio.

Nzigou's Gabonese compatriot Daniel Cousins lone strike gave Le Mans victory away at Nice.

Didier Drogba scored twice for Marseille as his side ended a long run of defeats to beat nine-man Lens 3-2.

Belgium

Ivorian Venance Zezeto scored the winner for Gent in the 77th minute as they scraped passed Beveren 2-1.

Another Ivorian Aruna Dindane was on target in the second-half for Anderlecht as his side beat Antwerp 2-0.
