Most European leagues are still on winter break but nonetheless, there were some eye-catching performances by Africans, some of whom are preparing for the Nations Cup, over the weekend.France
A hat-trick by Burkinabe striker Moumouni Dagano helped his side Guingamp to a 3-2 victory over Strasbourg.
Dagano's first goal, which came after 30 minutes, was his first since November.
He struck again three minutes later and then just after the hour to take his goal tally for the season to five.
Strasbourg had made the score 2-2 on the stroke of half-time with a strike from their Senegalese forward Mamadou Niang.
Pape Thiaw was another Senegalese player who hit the target at the weekend, scoring the only goal of the game after 65 minutes as his Metz side beat visitors Bastia.
Meanwhile, Bonaventure Kalou scored the second goal for Auxerre in the 16th minute as they defeated Montpellier 2-0. The Ivorian's strike was his sixth of the season.

South Africa's Benedict McCarthy scored both goals for Porto as the league leaders beat Pacos de Ferreira 2-0. Both goals came within the space of eight minutes early in the first half.

Gabonese striker Henri Antchouet gave his side Belenenses the lead only a minute into the second-half, yet his goal was not enough to prevent his side losing 2-1 to Sporting Braga.

Nigerian striker Yakubu Ayegbeni scored twice for Portsmouth who beat visiting Manchester City 4-2.
Both goals came in the second-half as the home team fought back from 2-1 down.
Ayegbeni has now scored eight goals this season.
