Ivorian striker Didier Drogba grabbed his ninth league goal of the season scoring the winner as Marseille beat Toulouse 1-0, who had Ousmane Ndoye from Senegal sent-off for the second time the season.
There was an African goal feast as Le Mans and Sochaux fought out a 2-2 draw.
Gabon's Daniel Cousin scored both goals for Le Mans, taking his tally to seven goals, while Tunisia's recently naturalized Brazilian-born Francileudo Santos scored first for Sochaux before Moroccan midfielder Jaouad Zairi levelled the match with his tenth of the season.
Another Gabonese player on target was Eric Mouloungui as he helped Strasbourg beat Montpellier 4-2.
But there was bad news for Ivorian defender Blaise Kouassi who got sent off for Guingamp as they lost lost 2-0 to Nice.
Italy
20 year-old Ivorian striker Axel-Cedric Konan scored, his second of the season, to put his Lecce side ahead in the 25th minute against Juventus, but they had to share the points in a 1-1 draw.
Senegal's Diomansy Kamara gave Modena the lead, with his fourth of the season, but they also drew 1-1 against Sampdoria.

As usual Ivorians were on song for Beveren as Gilles Yapi Yapo scored one and Constant Kaiper two in a 3-0 win over Antwerp.
Cameroon's Justice Wamfor and Sierra Leonean striker Paul Kpaka both found the back of the net as their side Genk humbled Heusden Zolder 4-1.
Germany
The only African in the headlines was Angola�s Rafael Nando who was sent off for Hertha Berlin as they lost 3-0 to FC Cologne.
The Netherlands
Moroccan Ali Boussaboun was on target for NAC Breda as they overcame Roosendaal 3-2, Nigeria's Pius Ikedia scored for the losers.
