Ikhana will miss his two key strikers |
Enyimba will be without two key players for Sunday's first leg of the Champions League final against Egyptian club Ismaili. Enyimba coach Kadiri Ikhana will be without leading scorer Joetex Frimpong and Victor Ezeji who have both been ruled out by injury.
Frimpong, the Ghanaian who has scored six goals in the competition so far, is still not free of an ankle complaint which has sidelined him since the semi-finals.
Ezeji, joint top scorer with Frimpong in the domestic league two seasons ago, will also miss Sunday's game, as he is nursing a shin injury.
However, skipper Romanus Orjinta will return to lead the club's defence against a free-scoring Ismaili.
He was thrown out of the team's training camp before their 2-1 victory over USMA of Algeria in the semi-finals for indiscipline.
Enyimba need to break a jinx when they take on the Egyptian club in Aba, eastern Nigeria.
Nigerian teams have faced North African opposition in three previous finals - in 1984, 1988 and 1996 - and failed to win.
"We hope to break that curse on Nigerian teams this time," said Ezeji.
