Paulao wrapped up AS Aviacao's league title

AS Aviacao have won the league title for the second year in succession following their 2-1 victory over InterClube.

Cape Verde international Humberto and former Benfica winger Paulao scored the goals that gave the airline club 53 points from 25 matches and an unassailable four-point lead over second-placed Petro Atletico with just one round of the championship left.

Last year, Aviacao, who reached the last eight of this year's Champions League, became only the fourth club to win the Girabola since Angola's independence in 1976, thus breaking the long-standing dominance of the league by Petro Atletico and Primeiro Agosto.

Morocco

Olympique Meknes remain top of the table after beating Raja Casablanca 1-0.

A goal after 13 minutes from El Ajraoui, his third strike of the season, ensured Meknes beat the Caf Cup finalists - who will play the first leg of their forthcoming continental final against Cotonsport in Casablanca on 8 November.

Meknes stay two points clear of Royal Armed Forces, who scraped a narrow 1-0 win over Jeunesse Massira on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Olympique Khourigba moved up to third after thrashing Maghreb Fes 5-1.

Egypt

Zamalek are now four points clear at the top of the table

Champions Zamalek beat Aswan 4-0 at home to register their sixth successive victory of the new season and extend their lead at the top to four points.

Al Ittihad of Alexandria moved second after a 3-2 win over Al Ahly, and the Cairo giants have now lost three of their first five matches.

ENPPI have moved third in the table after a goalless draw at Al Masry took them to fourteen points.

Tunisia

CS Sfaxien have gone one point clear at the top, despite their disappointing goalless draw at home to struggling Olympique Beja.

Esperance, who lost their African Champions League semi-final against Ismaili 3-1 at the weekend, are now in second place and are joined on 13 points by Etoile Sahel, who picked up a point after drawing 0-0 at CA Bizerte.

Club Africain, who also have 13 points, missed the opportunity to go top after being held to a 1-1 draw at home to bottom-place CO Transports.

Ivory Coast

ASEC Abidjan put their miserable African Champions League campaign behind them to beat arch-rivals Africa Sports 2-0 and assume leadership of the super division.

Goals from Alhassane Koivogui and Moussa Doumbia gave ASEC victory in the derby as well as a two-point lead in the championship with just two matches remaining.

Zambia

Power Dynamos kept their faint title hopes alive with a 2-1 victory over bottom club Roan United in the weekend's only premier match.

Rwandan international Jean Lomani scored his 17th goal of the season to give Dynamos the lead before Lameck Mwale added the second.

Dynamos, who are fifth in the table, trail league leaders Zanaco by 13 points but have two games in hand.

Algeria

JS Kabylie and Entente Setif share the lead of the Algerian first division after both sides recorded victories while previous leaders Widad Tlemcen slip to third, following their 1-1 draw at home to RC Kouba.

Moussa Saib grabbed a late winner for JS Kabylie

JS Kabylie beat Chabab Belouizdad 3-2, thanks to former Algerian international Moussa Saib's match-winner, while Entente Setif beat CA Batna courtesy of an 88th-minute strike from Karim Fellahi.

JS Kabylie and Setif have 21 points, and Widad trail closely behind with 20.

South Africa

Kaizer Chiefs and Ajax Cape Town turned on the charm for the Fifa World Cup bid inspection team - who were among a 50,000 crowd at Ellis Park in Johannesburg - when they dished up an exciting Coca Cola Cup quarter-final which Chiefs won 3-2.

Chiefs took the lead through Arthur Zwane before former Zimbabwe international Wilfred Mugeyi equalised on the half-hour. David Radebe restored Chiefs's lead only for Cape Town's Anele Zibi to make it 2-2 shortly before the break, but Patrick Mayo clinched the tie for the Chiefs with a second-half strike.

Meanwhile, newly-promoted Silver Stars continued their impressive cup run when beating Moroka Swallows 2-1 to book their place in the semis, with Alois Ngwerume and Thato Maleko scoring the goals.

Joining them in the last four are Golden Arrows, who beat Manning Rangers 4-3 in an action-packed Durban derby, and Wits University, who knocked out cup holders Jomo Cosmos with a 1-0 victory.

In the league, champions Orlando Pirates scored twice in the last seven minutes - through substitutes Joseph Makhanya and Jimmy Kauleza - to salvage a 2-2 draw at Santos.

Pirates move up to seventh place, 10 points behind league leaders Kaizer Chiefs.

Ghana

Asante Kotoko beat Accra Great Olympics 1-0 to go clear at the top

Asante Kotoko beat Accra Great Olympics 1-0 and international striker Nana Arhin-Duah's first-half goal took the Kumasi-based side three points clear at the top of the table.

Kotoko profited from Hearts of Oak's failure to beat BA United with the reigning champions, who are seeking a seventh successive title, drawing 0-0 away.

Zimbabwe

Defending champions Highlanders drew 1-1 with AmaZulu in the Bulawayo derby with Highlands goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapini playing a surprising role in their equaliser.

With his side trailing 1-0 to Sagedby Sandaka's 15th goal of the season, Kapini ventured out for a corner and helped set up Mkhokheli Dube for a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser.

Highlanders stay two points clear of AmaZulu but have fewer games left.

Meanwhile, Dynamos dropped four points off the pace after losing 2-1 against relegation-threatened Chapungu.
