His lawyer Christopher Besa said he had sought the bailiffs intervention because FAZ has been unco-operative on the matter.
"The decision to let the sheriffs go ahead with the action was made because FAZ have been adamant on this case." Besa explained that when Bamfuchile sued FAZ earlier, it was agreed between lawyers representing both parties that the case be settled out of court. However Besa said he had been waiting to hear from FAZ for three months but nothing had happened. Court order He said the FA's attitude was disappointing because the settlement was ordered by the Kitwe High Court. "We threw the ball in FAZ's hands to negotiate the settlement of that money. "We were ready to receive the money even in instalments, owing to their current financial difficulties, but they have not been co-operative," he said. FAZ currently owes $500,000 to various institutions. The money owed to Bamfuchile is for coaching services rendered to Zambia during the Ghana/Nigeria 2000 African Nations Cup finals. He was placed on indefinite "study leave" after Zambia were eliminated in the first round at the tournament. | See also: 05 Dec 01 | Africa 14 Mar 02 | Africa 29 Mar 02 | Africa Top Africa stories now: Links to more Africa stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
