Zambian coach sues FA
Jan Brouwer
Brouwer replaced Bamfuchile but also fell out of favour
By BBC Sport Online's Kennedy Gondwe in Zambia

Former Zambia national team coach Ben Bamfuchile has dragged the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) to court in a bid to recover his salary arrears.

Bamfuchile told BBC Sport Online that he sought legal action after numerous pleas to be paid the money which has been estimated to be more than US$ 12,500.

All I want is my money. What is very painful is that these people have continued employing coaches when they have failed to pay us, he said.

I am not against them employing an expatriate coach but they should first pay us
Ben Bamfuchile
I have been very patient with them and I feel I can no longer go beyond this point.

Bamfuchile accused FAZ of being insincere with him regarding the payments.

He said it was disappointing that after his contract expired last year, FAZ acquired the services of Dutchman Jan Brouwer.

Bamfuchile said that now Brouwer has fallen out of favour following his one year suspension by CAF, it was irresponsible of FAZ to make moves to engage Danish Roald Poulsen.

I am not against them employing an expatriate coach but they should first pay us, he said.

FAZ also owes Brouwer more than US$ 100,000.
Roald Poulsen
Poulsen has also been approached by Zambia

Bamfuchile lost his job after last year's Africa Cup finals following Zambia's first round elimination from the tournament.

He was placed on an indefinite forced study leave by FAZ alongside his assistant Obby Kapita until the duo's contracts expired.

FAZ president Evaristo Kasunga has refused to discuss Bamfuchile's plight.

But Kapita has appealed to Zambia's republican president Frederick Chiluba to intervene.

Meanwhile, Zambia's preparations for the Africa Cup have suffered a blow following a withdrawal by Burkina Faso to play them in a friendly next week.

This was supposed to be Zambia's fourth preparatory match after the Zimbabwe two encounters, and a match each against Morocco and Ethiopia.

The team re-groups in Lusaka this week to intensify preparations and are expected to beefed up by several overseas-based stars later.
