Enyimba says Shaibu (middle) is not in charge
Enyimba FC, Nigeria's representative in the African Champions League, say they have not given former national team coach Amodu Shaibu a permanent deal.

Last week, AFP reported that Shaibu, sacked by Nigeria's soccer authorities for failing to win the African Nations Cup, had been appointed Enyimba's head coach.

"It was an erroneous report because Shaibu is only here to give a helping hand in our Champions League games," said Enyimba chairman, Felix Anyansi Agwu.

Ex-Nigerian international Godwin Emeteole is now head coach following the sacking of Serbian Kostadin Papic.

Agwu added that Papic was fired after poor results in the domestic league, where the club is second on the table.

Enyimba travel to Ivory Coast for their April 13 first leg, second round Champions League match against ASEC Mimosas of Ivory Coast.
