St Georges break the Manx top flight scoring record
Laxey ended Gymns recent winning streak at Tromode
St Georges broke the Manx top-flight scoring record with a 24-0 victory over already relegated Douglas Royal at Ballafletcher on Saturday.
Island international Calum Morrissey netted nine goals as the rampant Geordies led 13-0 at half-time.
St Georges manager Chris Bass said: "It was an outstanding performance, from one to 11 they were outstanding."
The previous record had been held by RAF Jurby who beat Colby 21-0 in 1954 with a team of English servicemen.
Bass continued: "We've been threatening a result like this for a few weeks now. We took about 70% of our chances and in all honesty it could have been an avalanche."
Despite Morrissey's treble hat-trick, Bass says he was most impressed with his two wide men.
"Jamie Skillen and Chris Bass Jr were outstanding and made so many chances for the side. If there was a team of the week I would pick all 11 of them."
St Georges are now five points behind leaders Old Boys with five games in hand.
Old Boys completed their league campaign on Saturday with a 1-1 draw at third place Peel.
Meanwhile, two points separate the three teams fighting to avoid the second automatic relegation place.
Laxey ended Gymns recent winning streak with a 4-1 victory at Tromode, while Michael and Castletown played out a 1-1 draw at the Stadium.
Elsewhere, Rushen are up to fourth after a 3-2 home win against Ayre and St Marys beat Corinthians 5-1.
In JCK Division Two, St Johns moved a step closer to an immediate top flight return with a 4-0 victory away at Union Mills.
St Johns have now won all 17 of their games this season and have a five point lead over RYCOB.
