Guernsey won the NLS Cup final to win the right to represent England

Guernsey will open their Uefa Regions' Cup preliminary round campaign in Croatia with a match against the host country's team on Friday 24 September.

The Islanders are representing England after winning the National League System Cup final in May.

Coach Tony Vance said: "Split will be very hot, and learning our first game will be against the hosts, Croatia, it is vital we hit the ground running."

Guernsey will also face teams from Wales and Turkey in their group.

Vance added: "We have produced a schedule for the players which we believe will give ourselves the best opportunity to progress and to ensure that fitness will not be an issue in temperatures exceeding 25 degrees."

If Guernsey win the group they would qualify for the next qualifying round of the competition taking place in Slovenia in April.

If they are a well-placed second they would join another qualifying group based in either Bulgaria or the Czech Republic, the dates of which are still to be confirmed.

Anybody wishing to make the trip to Croatia to support the island team has been asked to register their interest in making the journey through the Guernsey FA website.
