Guernsey beat Liverpool County Premier League in the NLS Cup final

The dates have been confirmed for Guernsey's senior county league representative side's matches in Croatia for the Uefa Regions Cup.

The team will represent England from the 23-30 September after winning the National League System Cup.

Guernsey will face the hosts, Turkey and Wales in a round-robin tournament in what is the preliminary stages.

Guernsey are due to play a warm-up match against the Republic of Ireland's national amateur side on 11 September.

Coach Tony Vance said it would be a vital part of their preparations: "To have a very tough fixture like that is going to be a big ask and will put us in the right sort of mentality for the competition.

"I'm hoping we can get a couple more fixtures, maybe some foreign opposition with a more European-style of football, because Turkey and Croatia are going to play a completely different style to what we are used to."

Vance said he is due to meet with officials from the FA in the next week to discuss the details of the arrangements.

He said: "We have to prepare the best we can to give it our best shot, so we're going to be training very hard.

"It involves getting them mentally and physically ready for what's going to be a fantastic, but very difficult, competition.

"The challenge for us is to do what no other team has done when they've been representatives for England and that's to qualify for this tournament."

Eight teams will compete for the Uefa Regions Cup after qualifying from the group stages.

Earlier this week, the Guernsey FA said it had delayed publishing the fixtures for next season while the plans for the Uefa Cup competition were finalised.
