Muratti crowd trouble 'storm in teacup'

Pitch invasion after Muratti
Supporters from both sides crowded on to the pitch after the final whistle

The chairman of the Guernsey Football Association believes the violence which marred the end of the Muratti on Saturday was a storm in a teacup.

Trouble flared amongst the crowd after the Sarnian's defeated Jersey 1-0 at home to lift the title for the first time in five years.

Mark Le Tissier said the incident, in which one Jersey fan was arrested, was a one-off incident.

He said it was disappointing, but did not see it being repeated.

Mr Le Tissier said: "It's always disappointing if you do have any sort of altercations, it doesn't matter how minor it is. I don't see it being repeated on a regular basis."
