The new relationship will benefit young footballers

Guernsey's young footballers are set to benefit from a new relationship with Premier League club Portsmouth.

Portsmouth has pledged support for the Guernsey Football Association centre of excellence scheme which aims to develop the island's top talent.

GFA chairman Mark Le Tissier has said it is a great step forward for developing local football.

"I'm absolutely delighted - to have that sort of quality of coaching is something we've been looking," he said.

"We really appreciate Portsmouth coming on board," added Le Tissier.
