Guernsey's Under-18 footballers began their 2009 South West Counties campaign with a 3-1 defeat in Dorset.

A slow start allowed Dorset to take an early lead. But visiting manager Paul Ockleford thought the Green and Whites could have come away with something.

"We lacked a bit of luck but it was a match we could have won," he said. "Technically we were equal or better.

"We were a little bit slow to start and it gave Dorset the opportunity to get in front, Ockleford told BBC Guernsey.

Guernsey Under-18s have recently signed a two-year sponsorship deal with island firm Ronez which will pay for their travel to matches.
