Six games were postponed on Tuesday in England and Scotland
The Football League has called on clubs to look after travelling fans after a string of games were cancelled.
Matches across the country have fallen to Tuesday's frozen conditions and the league has responded by reiterating its rules on calling games off.
Football League official John Nagle said: "It's important that clubs do everything they can to prevent supporters making wasted journeys."
Only one game, Tottenham v Burnley, survived from Tuesday's fixture list.
The Football League's rules say that where there is any chance of a game being postponed, the home club must follow certain procedures.
It's very likely that we'll see a number of games being called off in the days ahead
League official John Nagle
- Provide an early warning to the Football League that the fixture might be in doubt.
- Contact the visiting club at least 24 hours prior to kick-off.
- Get in touch with the match referee to inform them of the situation and let them know that an early inspection might be needed.
- Tell the Football League if they believe a very early pitch inspection is a sensible course of action.
- Keep supporters informed of any changes.
- No club can postpone a match, only the match referee or the Football League.
Nagle added: "Given the low temperatures we are currently experiencing, it's very likely that we'll see a number of games being called off in the days ahead."
