Honours even in clash of top two

Football

Peel and St Georges played out a 1-1 stalemate in the clash of the Sure Mobile Premiership's top two at Glencrutchery Road on Saturday.

Callum Morrissey scored first for St Georges before Keirron Christian rifled home a long-range equaliser for Peel.

The result sees Peel retain their five-point cushion but Geordies have two games in hand on their rivals.

Meanwhile, St Mary's took their opportunity to close the gap at the top with a 5-1 win against Colby.

Josh Cowley put Colby in front at the Bowl before a Martin Reilly hat-trick and a brace from Marc Priestnal secured the points for the Saints.

Elsewhere, Rushen had to settle for a point against Gymns, in an exciting game at Tromode.

Ciaran McNulty put Gymns in front before Steven Riding levelled for Rushen.

Old Boys turned on the style to consolidate fifth spot with a 5-0 romp at bottom club Corinthians.

Paul Murphy, Callum Stewart, Sean Gavin, Jamie Skillen and Chris Clinton were all on target to earn an important three points.

Ramsey won the northern derby with a 3-1 win against Ayre at Ballacloan, while Michael lost 2-0 at home to Laxey.
