Plans for a 2m sports development on the Isle of Man could soon become a reality if a funding bid is successful. The Department of Tourism and Leisure is submitting an application for the cash to Tynwald this month. If successful it will develop four winter pitches, a synthetic cricket strip and new changing rooms at Ballafletcher just outside Douglas. The new facilities would be created for the use by local rugby, football and cricket teams. Tourism Minister Martyn Quayle said: ''The provision of new pitches in the east of the Island was identified as a top priority in the sport and recreation strategy approved by Tynwald in 2002."
