There are fears over the effect Guernsey Utd will have on league football in the island
The Guernsey FA is to discuss whether to affiliate the new Guernsey United football team which will play in the Kent Premier League.
The side, which hopes to play in the Kent Premier League, has been set up by some of the former GFA Executive members who resigned earlier this year.
In a statement the GFA says it will look at what affect the new side could have on the island's current league.
"The aspirations of this club will have a long-term effect on the existing structure of football on the island which need to be investigated further."
The president of the island's leading football clubs are to meet on Wednesday to discuss the implications of the side.
Clubs are worried that the team will see their best players leave them for a new side which does not play in the island.
The GFA recognize that it has a duty to foster the game of football on the island
GFA statement
The GFA statement went on to say that it will discuss whether to affiliate the club with other interested parties in the game.
"The GFA recognize that it has a duty to foster the game of football on the island and will continue to do this in the best way it feels appropriate, in consultation with all its partners," the statement said.
Guernsey is already looking for a new manager for the island's representative side after Steve Ogier resigned in order to take up the reigns of the new Guernsey United team, which hopes to play in the Kent Premier League from next season.
In the statement, GFA chairman Mark Le Tissier would not be drawn on whether the association was for, or against, the new side.
"The GFA is committed to developing football on the island at all levels," he said.
Several of the former executives of the GFA, David Nussbaumer, Jeff Vidamour and Mark Vidamour, who resigned after passing through a controversial new league structure in the island, are involved in the new side.
