Vase joy for six Peninsula sides

Football

Six sides from the South West Peninsula League have made it through to the third qualifying round of the FA Vase after victories on Saturday.

Perhaps the biggest surprise was Division One West side Porthleven beating Premier League leaders Buckland Athletic at Gala Parc.

Porthleven came from 3-0 down to win 4-3 with Darren Burchell scoring twice.

Launceston were one of four sides to beat Western League opposition with a 3-1 win over Keynsham Town.

Saltash United, Cullompton Rangers and Tavistock also beat higher ranked sides.

The Ashes won 6-1 at home to Portishead whilst Rangers were 3-1 winners at Welton Rovers.

Larkhall Athletic 2-1 Plymouth Parkway
Launceston 3-1 Keynsham Town

Saltash United 6-1 Portishead Town

Tavistock 2-0 Wellington Town

Ryan Honey got both of Tavistock's goals as they beat Wellington Town 2-0.

Newton Abbot are out after they lost 3-1 at Barnstaple Town, while Plymouth Parkway also came unstuck at a Western League side as they lost 2-1 to Larkhall Athletic.

Falmouth Town are still looking for their first win of the season after a crushing 6-2 defeat at Street.

But SWPL champions Bodmin Town cruised into the next round with a 4-0 win at Wadebridge Town.
