First Tower United's woes started where they left off last season as they lost their first ever game in football's lower tier 3-0 to the Portuguese Club.

Richard Russell scored twice for the Portuguese with Carlos Gomes getting the other to see Tower second from bottom after their first game.

They go joint top with Jersey Nomads after Mark Harris' last minute goal saw them get a 1-0 win at St Brelade.

St Martin SCF are bottom after losing 5-2 at St John.

Luke Bichard scored two for the winners along with one each for Sean Ganly, Ramsay Cudlipp and Mark le Mottee.

And St Lawrence came back from a 2-0 half-time deficit to draw 3-3 at home to Beeches.

Nathan Strzelecki got a hat-trick for the home team as both sides registered their first point of the season.
