Kennedy won his second Muratti to maintain his 100% record
Jersey boss Dave Kennedy said he was "absolutely exhausted" after his team's Muratti victory, which they won 4-2 on penalties.
He told BBC Radio Jersey he thought Guernsey had clinched the trophy when they were 1-0 ahead at 90 minutes.
"I was really pleased with our performance but it just didn't seem to be happening for us," he said.
"It took a bit of genius from Jack Boyle to take us into extra-time, after that I could see us going on to win."
We couldn't use our guys on the bench like we would have wanted to
Guernsey manager Steve Ogier
Thrilling though it might have been for the 2,500 fans at Springfield, a penalty shoot-out for the second consecutive season took its toll on the managers.
"When it went into penalties Steve [Ogier] and I just looked at each other and said 'Oh no not again, we can't handle this'," Kennedy explained.
But the Jersey boss paid tribute to his familiar rivals: "All credit to Guernsey who really stuck in.
"Really, really fantastic opposition. Very well drilled, they caused us a few problems in the box."
Guernsey manager Steve Ogier said his side were limited after key players were injured during the match, influential captain Matt Warren lasted just 12 minutes of the final.
"Our substitutions were dictated by injuries unfortunately," he said.
"We couldn't use our guys on the bench like we would have wanted to to influence the game."
Ogier also had praise for the opposition: "Credit to Dave and his boys, they kept going right for the full 90 and managed to get the goal."
