A late equaliser from Hitchin Town's Jon Stevenson saw 10-man King's Lynn's Southern Premier Division promotion hopes dented by a 2-2 draw. It was the second game in succession that a late goal had cost the Linnets all three points.
Matt Nolan scored twice to put Lynn in charge, but the game turned on the 38th minute dismissal of keeper Scott Howie for handling outside the box.
Luke Gregson pulled one back for the home side before Stevenson struck.
The result left Lynn third in the table, four points below leaders Team Bath.
The result has handed the initiative back to the students in the race for promotion after they returned to the top with a 1-0 win at Cirencester Town on Monday.
To add to Lynn's problems, Howie's red card means he will miss the crucial home clash against Team Bath on 5 April.
Kings Lynn football reporter Mark Hearle told BBC Radio Norfolk: "It's very frustrating, these late goals we're conceding are costing us very, very dear."
