Sanath Jayasuriya has hauled Sri Lanka back into the second Test with a swash-buckling unbeaten 96. Former captain Jayasuriya smashed 14 fours and one six in his entertaining 104-ball blitz as he became Sri Lanka's highest Test-runs scorer. Sri Lanka ended day three on 134-1 still 136 runs behind Pakistan who were bowled out for 478.
Captain Inzamam-ul-Haq scored 117 - his 20th career century - as Pakistan built up a healthy lead in Karachi.
Inzamam was unflappable as he took and 215 balls to reach his century, which included nine boundaries and a six.
Sri Lanka took Pakistan's five remaining wickets for 77 runs on Saturday.
Inzamam was the first to fall put together with Yousuf Youhana (46) put on 74 runs for the fifth wicket.
Shoaib Malik made 44 with the lower order.
Inzamam was lucky to survive on 108 after edging a Dilhara Fernando delivery to first slip, where Mahela Jayawardene dropped a difficult catch low and to his left.
But the fireworks were left until late in the day with Jayasuriya in no mood to hang around.
He became Sri Lanka's most prolific Test run scorer in the process, overtaking Aravinda de Silva's previous best of 6,361 runs.
Spinner Danish Kaneria took the only wicket of Sri Lanka's second innings, dismissing skipper Marvan Atapattu for 25.
At the resumption of play, Jayasuriya will be attempting to secure his 14th Test ton, and will be at the crease with Kumar Sangakkara, who was four not out at the close.
