Zaheer has just returned to the side |
India's fast bowler Zaheer Khan will miss the second Test against Pakistan in Lahore with a hamstring injury. Zaheer limped off after bowling just one over on the fourth day of the first Test, and was unable to return as India clinched victory in Multan.
"Zaheer will miss the second Test because of a muscle strain in his right leg," said manager Ratnakar Shetty.
The tourists will also be missing captain Sourav Ganguly for the second Test, which starts on Monday.
Zaheer, India's most experienced seam bowler, managed 23 overs in Pakistan's first innings, taking the wicket of Yousuf Youhana to end with figures of 1-76.
Zaheer had just returned to the India side after a two-month lay-off with a hamstring injury, which he suffered during the tour of Australia.
He will have a scan when the team arrives in Lahore for the second Test.
Spin bowler Anil Kumble, meanwhile, has been given permission to return home briefly to visit his pregnant wife.
He will rejoin the team over the weekend.
