Rhodes has struggled to find another overseas player |
Worcestershire are still looking for an overseas player, despite the success of Imran Arif, who joined the club from the Bradford League in July. Pakistan-born Arif took seven wickets on his debut and has been offered of a two-year deal, which is subject to him getting a British passport. Director of cricket Steve Rhodes told BBC Hereford & Worcester they would like to bring in an overseas bowler. He said: "We're still looking but Imran has done a great job for us so far." Rhodes added: "He played a key role again at Gloucester but it's a bit unfair to call him our overseas player, although he's come in and done a great job. "He and Simon Jones came back at Cheltenham and blew away the tail but he still has a lot to learn about the first-class game." Worcestershire originally signed West Indian pace-man Fidel Edwards but he pulled out of the move to New Road after being advised to rest by the West Indies Cricket Board. Despite a worldwide search Rhodes has so far failed to come up with a replacement after Steve Magoffin returned to Australia in July. Worcestershire's next game is against Derbyshire in the County Championship starting at New Road on Wednesday. You can hear ball-by-ball commentary on the whole game on BBC Hereford & Worcester on 738AM and online at bbc.co.uk/herefordandworcester.
