| Friday, 1 November, 2002, 12:01 GMT All-rounder boosts Sussex
It is a further boost for the county following the recent signing of Pakistani spinner Mushtaq Ahmed and pace bowler James Kirtley's decision to sign a new four-year contract. Martin-Jenkins, the son of Times cricket correspondent and BBC Test Match Special commentator Christopher, made great strides during the 2002 campaign. The 27-year-old made more than 1,000 runs in the County Championship, including a career best innings of 205 not out against Somerset, and also took 41 wickets. "There's no doubt that Sussex is the place I want to be and this new contract is confirmation of the faith the club has in me. "I'm very much looking forward to next season when my target will be to achieve the new double; take 50 wickets as well as scoring another 1,000 runs." |
