Andy Moles has been appointed as Scotland's new full-time coach. The former Warwickshire batsman will take over at the end of February after leaving his current post in charge of the Kenyan national team.
Moles will guide the team through this summer's ICC Trophy tournament in Ireland when five places for the 2007 World Cup will be up for grabs.
"The target quite simply is to qualify for the World Cup," said Moles, who has 18 years of coaching experience.
He will replace Tony Judd, who was in charge when Scotland won the ICC Intercontinental Cup last November but decided he did not want to continue on a full-time basis.
"I saw the squad when they played against Kenya in the Intercontinental Cup. They looked a well-organised and dedicated bunch, and I'm delighted to have the chance to work with them.
"I'm also looking forward to the challenge of building on the success enjoyed by Tony Judd," the 43-year-old added.
Moles' decision to leave Nairobi comes against a background of behind the scenes strife in recent months.
Former Kenya captain Maurice Odumbe was banned for five years for accepting money from a bookmaker, other senior players boycotted the team in a contracts dispute and allegations of financial mismanagement led the government to dissolve the Kenya Cricket Association and appoint an interim committee to run the game.

Cricket Scotland chief executive Roddy Smith hailed Moles as an "exceptional coach", who is especially strong on batting.
Moles scored more than 15,000 first-class runs at an average of over 40 during a playing career in English county cricket and in South Africa.
"We are delighted to have secured a coach of Andy's calibre," said Smith.
"We are entering a crucial year for our national side and were determined, through the extensive recruitment process, to secure a coach who would continue the progress made under Tony Judd."
The ICC Trophy will take place in July when Scotland will be looking to reach the World Cup for the first time since 1999.
They narrowly missed out on a chance to take on the major cricket nations in the ICC Champions Trophy last September when they finished second behind the USA on run rate in the qualifying competition.
