Moles eyes vacant Scotland role
Andy Moles
Andy Moles has not had an easy time recently in Kenya
Kenya coach Andy Moles is eyeing the vacant role at Scotland as the team try to qualify for the 2007 World Cup.

The former Warwickshire batsman is understood to have made a shortlist of four who have been called for interviews by Cricket Scotland.

Captain Craig Wright said: "There were quite a few applications in all. The interviews are taking place shortly."

Moles had earlier told the Daily Herald that, in contrast to the situation in Kenya, Scotland had a bright future.

Frustrated with infighting and a lack of financial support in Kenya, Moles praised the work done in Scotland by previous coach Tony Judd, who was not prepared to do the job on a full-time basis.

Moles told the Herald: "Scottish cricket is clearly on the up and the opportunities are in stark contrast to those in Kenya, where we only have six days of cricket organised for the whole of 2005."

The Scots, on the other hand, will have the Totesport League on their agenda, plus the crucial ICC Trophy in Ireland which provide five qualifiers for the World Cup.

Meanwhile, it has emerged that the board of Cricket Scotland is still to approve the financial package being offered to the new full-time coach.
