Brown's absence could prove a massive blow for Scotland |
Scotland all-rounder Dougie Brown has been ruled out of the ICC Intercontinental Cup semi-final against Kenya with an elbow injury. The Warwickshire star had an injection last week in a bid to be fit for the game, which starts on 16 November.
His place will instead be taken by Heriots bowler Dewald Nel.
Captain Craig Wright said: "It is obviously a blow to lose our most experienced player but we have had very good reports about Dewald's form."
Nel is currently playing his cricket out in Brisbane, Australia.
Scotland secured a place in the last four of the Intercontinental Cup with an eight-wicket win over Ireland in Dublin in August.
They managed that without Brown or Durham's Gavin Hamilton and will be facing a massively inexperienced Kenyan side in Abu Dhabi.
Victory would set up a meeting with either Canada or the United Arab Emirates in the final.
