Hussey played at Trent Bridge for Australia in the recent World Twenty20 |
Australian David Hussey has admitted his surprise at playing for Nottinghamshire again this season. Hussey is at Trent Bridge to cover for Adam Voges, who is away with the Australian A team for five weeks. Hussey told BBC Radio Nottingham: "I'm a little bit surprised but I love playing for Notts, I've got great memories of playing here. "I'm very fortunate to get a short stint, but hope I can make it a longer thing again some time in the future." Hussey will play for Notts in their Twenty20 Cup match against local rivals Derbyshire on Friday and Lancashire on Sunday, having been a key figure for the county in previous campaigns. | 606: DEBATE |
The 31-year-old said: "I had a meeting with (director of cricket) Mick Newell over a cup of coffee when the World Twenty20 was on. He said, 'Would you be interested' and I said 'of course'. I jumped at the chance to play here again." Hussey will then appear in the County Championship matches against Lancashire and Durham. "There are two Championship games here, there'll be a bit of a buzz and I can't wait to play," added the Australian.
