Notts sign Hussey
David Hussey
Hussey has scored 833 in nine matches in the Pura Cup
Australian David Hussey has become Nottinghamshire's third overseas signing, alongside Damien Martyn and Stuart MacGill.

The 26-year-old is a highly-rated batsman who has had a number of eye-catching innings in Australia's Pura Cup, playing for Victoria.

He is the younger brother of Mike, who played for Northants for three seasons.

Hussey will cover when Martyn or MacGill are away on international duty.

He is expected to join Notts in June and will remain at Trent Bridge until the end of the season.

Mick Newell, Notts director of cricket, said: "David is a very exciting young talent who comes highly recommended from a number of contacts we have in Australia, including Steve Waugh.

"He is a young player with hunger and desire to play at the highest level and we hope we can benefit from that."

Hussey has been in terrific form in the Pura Cup competition this season, scoring 833 runs in just nine matches at an average of 75.7.

He said: "I'm really excited to get the opportunity to play at a Test ground with a talented Notts squad that includes two fellow Aussies.

"I know both Stuart and Damien quite well and they've both talked very positively about the club and playing cricket in England.

"I also asked my brother Mike's advice and he told me that if I got the chance I should take it because there's so much first class cricket played in England that you cannot help but learn a lot and enjoy yourself."
