David Hussey and Australia failed to shine in the ICC World Twenty20 |
Nottinghamshire have agreed a deal to sign batsman David Hussey on a five-week contract to replace Adam Voges. Director of cricket Mick Newell approached the 31-year-old after Voges was named vice-captain for Australia A's series against Pakistan. Hussey previously spent four years with Notts after joining in 2004. Newell told BBC Radio Nottingham: "We've agreed a contract with David. Once his visa arrives we can book him on a plane and get him over here." He added: "He likes playing at Trent Bridge, he enjoyed his four years here and was very keen to come back as soon as I mentioned it to him." "It's probably unrealistic to think he'll be here by Monday when we play Yorkshire, but hopefully by Wednesday and certainly Friday." Hussey was part of the Australian team that failed to get past the group stage in the ICC World Twenty20, and is likely to be involved in the English domestic tournament with Nottinghamshire, as well as hoping to keep them at the top of the County Championship.
